Update

Hey everyone,
The following is an update on Brother Paul Pritchard of PREACH Evangelistic Ministries. I received it as an e-mail. He is currently still in the Hospital at Praia, Cape Verde.

"So far as we know he has had no antibodies at all to fight infection. Brother Paul spoke to Terri (I think that's his wife) briefly and said he could not see out of his right eye or move his extremities on his right side or move his neck. We just found out that he has on his right side, a broken foot, broken shin, broken thigh with rods from the surgery, and his arm is broken in 2 places laying in a tray. They say that if he moves his leg the nerves are so bad that he will lose his leg. We do not know if it is because they have him restrained or if other things have come into play. Brother Jonathan Quinn said that his leg does not look good. He has had little or no pain medication.
We just got word that American Air Ambulance can evacuate him out Thursday morning and have him back in the states by Friday. Brother Paul's, brother, Mark has gotten them to agree to do it for $72,000, they wanted $95,000. Mark was also able to procure 2 orthopedic surgeons in Greenville SC to do the surgeries. We need to raise the funds by the end of today.
Word just came to Terri that the Doctors said that we had to get Brother Paul moved out now."

As of 3:00 today, $67,000 had been raised for the American Air Ambulance fee. Just $5000 to go. Just in case you are wondering why they don't just continue to treat Brother Paul there, and just bring in antibiotics and pain meds, I think the reason may be the ability of the hospital to treat him. Most hospitals in Africa aren't quite like the ones here in the States. Brother Pritchard is the group leader of the trips to Africa, so I don't know what will happen to the planned Cape Verde Islands Missions Trip. Be Praying!

Okay,
Next prayer request is urgent also. I received the following as an e-mail from some friends.

Please be in prayer for Brother Paul Pritchard with Preach Evangelistic Ministries.
He was in a terrible car accident in Africa today and broke both legs, and has much damage to his right side. He is in surgery right now. Those traveling with him have minor injuries. His wife is not with him, she is here in the states. She is trying to gather funds to go to be with him. He will need a personal(professional) assistant to make the journey home.
Thank you for your prayers on His behalf.

Greetings and Salutations,
My first prayer request is rather urgent. To get my visa, I had to send my passport to PREACH Evangelistic Ministries (that's who I am going to Africa with). So I signed my passport and stuck it in a manila envelope with my visa application and visa pictures. Then I made the silly mistake of not certifying and registering (or whatever you do) to be able to track it. So now, 2 weeks later, my passport still hasn't arrived in West Virginia, where I mailed it to, and so now I'm wondering... where did it go? I can't track it because I didn't certify it. But if it is lost, then on Monday I have to spend a lot of money and try to get a new passport and rush it through a different agency thing (it's kind of hard to explain) to maybe be able to get it in 1 and 1/2 weeks. If PREACH doesn't get it before 2 weeks is up, then I am pretty much sunk. So, pray that the manila envelope was just delayed somewhere and will still be delieverd with my original passport and visa application. Pray that I will be calm and not ticked off and angry at just about everything and everybody, like I am now. My family is probably pretty miserable right now, having to live with me. :) Thanks for your prayers,
On Fire so Other's Won't Be,
Estel

First Post... and Welcome

Welcome to my Blog! The purposes of the this blog are twofold. The first is to glorify my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. All posts will attempt to do this, and please tell me if something I say is not accomplishing this purpose.
The second purpose for this blog is to keep you, the reader, up-to-date on what's going on in my life. While I am in Africa, I hope to be able to post about what's going on there. Hopefully, this will be easier than sending a mass e-mail every few days or sending an e-mail to everyone after I get back.

A little history about myself... I am a 16 year old home schooled student who feels called to Medical Missions in Equatorial Guinea, Africa. I am a Christian, and would like everyone else I know and whoever reads this blog to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. If you already have, that's great! Glad you are in the Family of God. Technically, this really isn't a history of myself, but a review of where I now stand.
I am going on a Missions Trip to Cape Verde Africa this May/June, Lord willing. The purpose of this trip is to hand out New Testament packets in the public school system there. I will be going with an organization called Preach Evangelistic Ministries, who has been going to Cape Verde for the past few years on the same type of missions trip.
This trip will cost approximately $2700, of which I have raised $1100 so far, thanks to some of my friends generous giving. While money may seem important to my being able to go, prayer for the team going to Africa is vastly more important. Without prayer, our spiritual battle with evil starts going downhill in a hurry. And espescially since we will be going into the public school system, I think we need all the more prayer. Later, I may list some more specific prayer requests for the trip.
Well, that's all for now. I'm glad you've decided to visit my blog, and I hope you will continue to do so in the future. More posts may be a little while in coming, but as I receive updates on the trip to Africa, I will post them. Thanks for praying!

A Servant of the Cross,
Strider
