Update

Hey everyone,
The following is an update on Brother Paul Pritchard of PREACH Evangelistic Ministries. I received it as an e-mail. He is currently still in the Hospital at Praia, Cape Verde.

"So far as we know he has had no antibodies at all to fight infection. Brother Paul spoke to Terri (I think that's his wife) briefly and said he could not see out of his right eye or move his extremities on his right side or move his neck. We just found out that he has on his right side, a broken foot, broken shin, broken thigh with rods from the surgery, and his arm is broken in 2 places laying in a tray. They say that if he moves his leg the nerves are so bad that he will lose his leg. We do not know if it is because they have him restrained or if other things have come into play. Brother Jonathan Quinn said that his leg does not look good. He has had little or no pain medication.
We just got word that American Air Ambulance can evacuate him out Thursday morning and have him back in the states by Friday. Brother Paul's, brother, Mark has gotten them to agree to do it for $72,000, they wanted $95,000. Mark was also able to procure 2 orthopedic surgeons in Greenville SC to do the surgeries. We need to raise the funds by the end of today.
Word just came to Terri that the Doctors said that we had to get Brother Paul moved out now."

As of 3:00 today, $67,000 had been raised for the American Air Ambulance fee. Just $5000 to go. Just in case you are wondering why they don't just continue to treat Brother Paul there, and just bring in antibiotics and pain meds, I think the reason may be the ability of the hospital to treat him. Most hospitals in Africa aren't quite like the ones here in the States. Brother Pritchard is the group leader of the trips to Africa, so I don't know what will happen to the planned Cape Verde Islands Missions Trip. Be Praying!

Hey Strider,
We got your thank you letter in the mail today. I'm glad at least a few more things have fallen into place for you. It always seems like Gods time and our time never quite click togeather like we think they should, and most of the time it seems like He's always telling us to wait or be patient. Which isn't usually what we're wanting to hear.
I will definately be praying for Brother Paul. It has got to be taking so much faith for them to just get through this and still be seeing this as being the Lord's will one way or another. Some times I think it is often our lack of faith, or doubts that cause us the most trouble. It's not that God's not doing His part, it's just that we don't really trust Him enough that He will do His share and see us through our trials.
While I'm at this I also wanted to say thanks for the note you wrote me about my missions trip. It really means alot to know that others remember and take the time to pray, or in your case write a note of encouragement. I am happy to say, and very greatfull to the Lord as well, that the fundraising for my trip has been going very well so far. Still sometimes it is hard not to want to worry since I'm not there yet. I guess in the end I figure that from the very beginning this has been in the Lord's hands to do with as He pleases. I am but the clay, He is the potter. This whole thing was His idea.
Ok, sorry, I feel like I'm starting to ramble. It's been a long day.
I do hope that the days when you've had your doubts and frustrations (and made your family miserable) were the days that you also remembered that you have friends who are praying for you, and a God who is always there.

Always in His grace,
The Ordinary Princess

Hmm,
apparently, my sister Rush (pronounced roosh) doesn't want me to go to Africa! It might have to do with the fact that I'll be gone during her birthday.
